Charlie Mann, voice & piano
Charlie Mann is a Chicago-based actor, singer, composer, and music teacher. As an Orff-certified music teacher, he approaches teaching music with a sense of play, wonder, and groundedness in the body.
As a voice teacher, Charlie is excited to work with beginning through advanced students. He focuses on developing solid technique, based in a functional understanding of how all the parts of the body must work together to produce a good, healthy tone, whatever the genre. He specializes in musical theater singing, operatic performance, and choral technique. He has a deep knowledge of all three genres, their repertoire, and their attendant stylistic conventions, making him the perfect teacher to help you prepare for an upcoming rehearsal, production, or audition.
As a piano teacher, Charlie is focused on working with young students and beginners, helping them to develop good functional mechanics and a sense of groundedness in the body that will
provide a solid foundation for growth. He is also focused on making learning the piano fun, and will be happy to work with students to arrange their favorite songs at their level so they can play them at home!
Outside of teaching, Charlie performs with Consonance (AKA Chicago Choral Artists) in River Forest, and can be seen in multiple musical theater productions around Chicago. His recent credits include Les Miserables, the Impostors' Footholds Vol. 6, and Kokandy's acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd. As a composer, Charlie's music was recently featured in The Impostors' Footholds Vol. 7. He is currently writing and composing the score for a new adaptation of A Christmas Carol, slated for developmental reading in the coming year.
