Anna Wegener, piano & voice
Anna Wegener is a Chicagoland-native musician and educator. After graduating from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelors degree in music, she began teaching piano and voice to private students from age 3 to adult. With over 10 years of teaching experience, she regularly teaches in-person and virtually in a variety of styles. By developing engaging games and activities, as well as creating custom song arrangements, she meets students where they're at to help them foster a lifelong pursuit of music. In addition to traditional theory and technique study, her students have composed original songs, worked on transcribing pop music, and performed in local recitals and musicals. She has also held the position of Choral Collaborative Pianist at William Fremd High School in Palatine for 5 years and performed with the choirs in New York in 2026 and at the Illinois Music Educators Association Conference in Peoria in 2023.
Anna regularly joins Chicago-area theater companies as an award-nominated music director, conductor, orchestrator, and pianist. As music director, she collaborates with vocal and instrumental ensembles of amateur to professional performers. Recent shows include
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Highland Park Players), Amelie (Kokandy Productions, Jeff nomination with T.J. Anderson), Jesus Christ Superstar and Into the Woods (Chicago College of Performing Arts), and Young Frankenstein (Wheaton Drama, Lou nomination). Aside from music directing, she performs in pit orchestras and ensembles for theater performances of all genres, as well as rehearsals and auditions.
While not performing or teaching, Anna enjoys reading books of all genres and learning new languages. You'll almost always find her with her dog, Sable.
