Attendance and Makeup Policy

In Response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Musical Offering has expanded their makeup policy to better serve our students and teachers.

Private Lesson Attendance Policy

  • At the beginning of the session: Payment must be received in full (or payment plan set up PRIOR to first lesson of the session. If payment is not received, lessons will be put on hold until payment is paid in full or payment plan set up. Any lessons missed due to non-payment are forfeited and not eligible for a refund or a makeup.

  • A student is allowed (1) absence per session with at least a 24-hour notice, which may be rescheduled by the teacher at a mutually convenient time. Any lesson cancelled with less than a 24-hour notice or no notice at all will be forfeited.

  • All students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons during the session. There are no refunds for forfeited lessons.

  • If a teacher needs to cancel a lesson, either the lesson will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time or the student will be credited in a future session.

  • The Musical Offering is not responsible for childcare before or after a lesson.

  • Teachers have been given the option to teach remotely, on-site or a mix of both during the pandemic. We encourage you to talk to your teacher about their preference PRIOR to registering. Students will not be able to transfer to a new teacher mid session if they want to switch from remote to on-site lessons. For example, if you registered for 17 lessons with your teacher who is teaching remotely during the summer, you can't transfer your lessons at any point to an on-site teacher. You will be held accountable for all 17 remote lessons, and any missed will be forfeited without a refund. If you are interested in adding on additional lessons on-site with a teacher, you will need to register with your current teacher, and email managingdirector@themusicaloffering.org to also be placed with an available on-site teacher for add on lessons.

  • In the event that a remote lesson cannot be completed (due to lack of technology or any similar factor), scheduling makeup lessons will be an option if your teacher opts to teach on-site during a future session, OR your teacher may put you in touch with an on-site teacher (if available) to complete the lesson. In the event that all options have been exhausted, including remote lessons and makeup lesson scheduling, we may consider cancelling only lessons that were initially offered remotely. Students will not be able to receive a refund for lessons that are fully available on-site.

Group Classes Attendance Policy
  • At the beginning of the session: Payment must be received in full (or payment plan set up PRIOR to first lesson of the session. If payment is not received, lessons will be put on hold until payment is paid in full or payment plan set up. Any lessons missed due to non-payment are forfeited and not eligible for a refund or a makeup.

  • During temporary school closures, classes will be rescheduled as makeups to align with dates that the MO is opened.

  • Some group classes are being held 100% while others are being held on-site. Choosing the teaching location is at the discretion of the teacher.

  • If a teacher needs to cancel a class, either the class will be rescheduled or the student will be credited for the missed class at the end of the session.

  • There is not an option for individual makeups with group classes--in the event that the entire class is cancelled by the teacher, it will be made up later in the session or students will be credited for a future session.

  • All students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons during the session. There are no refunds for forfeited lessons.

  • If classes are unable to gather on-site due to COVID, and if the class is not able to gather remotely, and if a makeup option is not possible, a refund will be offered for any missed classes.

  • Students will not be able to receive a refund for classes that are fully available on-site at the MO
