Samantha Peng is a versatile and dynamic violist based in the Chicagoland area, recognized for her artistry as a performer, educator, and advocate for the arts. Originally from Falls Church, Virginia, she brings a rich blend of technical mastery and expressive depth to every performance.
Samantha has cultivated a multifaceted career, performing extensively in orchestral, chamber, and solo settings across the United States and abroad. She has appeared with renowned ensembles including Midsummer's Music The Griffon String Quartet, the National Orchestral Institute, and the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra, and her concert work has taken her as far as Japan for festivals celebrating both traditional and contemporary music. Her repertoire spans centuries, from early works to modern compositions, reflecting her adaptability and curiosity as an artist.
An experienced educator, Samantha is passionate about guiding the next generation of musicians and is deeply committed to promoting healthy, efficient playing techniques grounded in Karen Tuttle coordination, a pedagogical approach akin to the Alexander Technique. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes both technical fluency and musical expression, equipping students with tools for lifelong artistry.
Samantha holds degrees in viola performance from the University of North Texas and DePaul University, where she studied with distinguished mentors including Ann Marie Brink, Daphne Gerling, and Susan Dubois.
