Rebekah "The Philosopher"
I enjoy developing a rapport with my students of all ages and their families. Adapting my teaching style to each students’ needs is a priority for me. Learning an instrument should foster a life long love and appreciation for music, and at the same time is an experience, which can provide a framework for developing other important life skills, such as self-discipline, motivation, confidence, communication, team work.
Rebekah "The Student"
I studied at Chethams School of Music In Manchester, England. I received my bachelors in Violin performance from The Royal Northern College of Music, before gaining my Masters at Northwestern University. I also have a performance diploma from NIU.
Rebekah "The Teacher"
I have been teaching at the Musical Offering since 2002. I have students from the age of 4 to 65. I enjoy working with young and adult beginners through to very advanced players. I also have experience teaching college level. From 2000-2002 I was assistant teacher to Gerardo Ribiero at Northwestern. I currently have students in MYA and CYSO Youth Orchestras.
Rebekah "The Performer"
I have a diverse performance career. I am first violinist of Quartet Parapluie; I also perform regularly with the Musical Offering Piano Trio. For the last seven years I have been violinist with The Grace Chicago consort: a unique ensemble, in residence at Grace Chicago Church. I have performed chamber and solo concerts across the U.S and Europe. In the summer of 2009 I completed a solo recital tour in the U.K of a program of 20th Century British works for violin and piano, and most recently performed Messaien's Quartet for the end of time at The Chicago Cultural Center and Heaven Art Gallery. In addition, I have performed with the Elgin Symphony, Chicago Philharmonic, Chicago Sinfonietta and Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Ravinia, and have played for the Bolshoi and San Francisoco city ballet orchestras. I have also performed with prominent and diverse artists such as Tony Bennet and The Beach Boys.
