The Musical Offering - Week of January 5th

The Latest News...................

NEW! The Musical Offering SPACE Concert Series
The Musical Offering has joined with the Evanston League of Creative Musicians, and will begin offering a series of concerts at the S.P.A.C.E (Society for the Preservation of Art & Culture in Evanston).
Upcoming performances planned include (please check back for new details under Concerts as we update our list)
• March 1st - faculty concert
• April 5th - student-composed opera
• May 10th faculty concert
• June TBA - afternoon of student recitals
In addition, the MO plans to offer several studio classes for MO piano and wind students at SPACE throughout the winter/spring.

Sunday, January 11th
Musical Offering Thank You
All Musical Offering students, families and friends are invited to a special afternoon of fun, music and treats as our way of saying "Thank you!" for being a part of our community. Please mark Sunday, January 11th from 3 to 5 PM on your calendars and plan to drop by for face painting, balloons, snacks, music and testimonials. We are thrilled to honor MO students with a special party!

Sunday, January 18th
Faculty Recital
Join us for a recital of music for violin and piano by Musical Offering faculty member Therese Castle and special guest Irina Feoktistova. The program will include music of Mozart, Franck and more. Start time is 4 PM at The Musical Offering. Admission is free. Donations are gladly accepted.

Sunday, January 25th
Sonatina/Suite/Aria/Song Festival
All Musical Offering are invited to participate in this annual all-school festival. Students will play prepared pieces for faculty and guest judges and receive verbal and written feedback. Grading is not a part of this process. Rather, the focus is solely on the music (interpretation, practicing, etc. ). Sign-up sheets will be posted in the front lobby before the holidays.

Sunday, February 15th
Music Marathon Student Performance Event and Fundraiser
Please mark this date in your calendars. Musical Offering and Chicago Academy for the Arts students will come together to create ten hours of continuous music. Musical Offering teachers will be scheduling their studio recitals this week—please consult your teacher regarding performance times.

We are seeking new pictures of MO students/families for our website. If you have a favorite picture that you would care to share please forward that to Rick Ferguson. Wanted: Board Members!
The MO is seeking community-minded arts lovers/supports who would like to serve on our board. Be a part of a dynamic organization and help us fulfill our mission of creating and nurturing community through music study, performance and outreach. We welcome voices and experiences from all parts of our community. In particular, we currently are in need of individuals with a background in finance, fundraising and/or event planning. Registration for Winter/Spring Classes is Now Open!
The next session of lessons/classes beings on Tuesday, January 20th.

  • Music Together (infant-5 w/ caregiver) — Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings
  • Comprehensive Music (ages 4-8) — Monday afternoons
  • Irish music adult ensemble class—Monday afternoons and evenings
  • Irish music kids classes — Thursdays and Saturdays
  • Piano lessons (all ages)
  • Flute, clarinet & saxophone lessons (all ages)
  • Morchestra: Chamber music for winds, brass & keyboard (ages 10-17) — Friday afternoons
  • MOVA: Musical Offering Vocal Arts — Classical & Musical Theater Voice lessons (middle school and up)
  • MOSS: The Musical Offering School of Strings

Musical Offering Wish List
  • Two artist benches for MO piano students
  • Evanston, Rogers Park or North Shore businesses interested in sponsoring our annual Music Marathon on February 15th
  • Someone with costume and/or set design skills to volunteer to help with upcoming productions by the Opera Company (OC)—The Musical Offering's resident opera and vocal performance troupe.
